This type of question can be expressed in various other forms such as ‘Why are we here’, or ‘Does life have a meaning or purpose?’.

The many answers that people have put forward to these questions often depend on the different cultures and ideologies of the respondent. The answers put forward can be put into various categories including philosophy, science, theology or even metaphysics. There has always been tremendous speculation about ‘the meaning of life’ type questions with a wide variety of opinions expressed by many different people.

As we approach these big questions our thoughts turn towards various issues including existence, social relationships, consciousness, and how to be happy. Our thinking then turns towards…
